Today, I am thankful for all things, but most specifically, 3 things:
1. Jack Links Beef Jerky-Original Flavor
2. Perspective
3. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
First, an ode to beef jerky. Y'all cannot comprehend how many times beef jerky has saved me from buying a #2 from Wendy's. Seriously. And it has to be Jack Links. I don't know how they marinate and dehydrate their product, but God, it comes out perfect every time. Every time I get my hands on a bag, it's like opening a little slice of carnivorous heaven.
A little more serious: Perspective. I haven't always been blessed with a good perspective on things. Partly because I seem to find potential in everything, also because of society's sometimes skewed view of things. I am thankful that, in the past few months, weeks, and days, I've been able to develop my own perspective on things. I have realized that often, no matter how much you want things to work out, they don't. Not because you didn't want them badly enough, but probably because they just weren't meant to be. I have realized that sometimes, people aren't who you thought they were and things that make you feel good aren't always good for you. I've realized that occasionally, he really just isn't that into you, and hey! That's okay because despite what you may think at the moment, life does, in fact, go on. I've realized that open communication is supremely important to me and when I ask a question, I expect a legit answer the first time. Although I am trying, I am not always the most empathetic/understanding person and that isn't always a bad thing. I just have little tolerance for communication games. I am thankful that I have come to differentiate what's important to me from what is unimportant to meā¦and that has made all the difference.
Lastly, a certainly least, Lemony Snicket. If you haven't read these books, you are surely being deprived of a most interesting experience. Of course, if you are looking for a story filled with sunshine and happy endings, this series is not for you. I can always count on Lemony Snicket to sum up my day with a few, moderately questionable, mostly quirky words. Especially on days when I feel like I have none.
